Pasta al Forno alla Loren (Sophia Loren's Baked Ziti)


1 1/2 jars of meaty spaghetti sauce
4 cups of Bechamel Sauce
salt
1 1/2 lbs. ziti
1 cup fresh Parmesan cheese

Bechamel Sauce

1 quart of milk
6 tbsp. margarine
5 heaping tbsp. flour
1 packet of chicken granules
1 tsp. dried chives
1 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. garlic powder
salt and pepper

Heat the margarine in a pan. Add flour and stir. Cooking for about 2 minutes.

Add milk and stir constantly until thickened. Add the rest of the ingredients. Taste and adjust seasonings. Set aside.

Spray a 13 x 9 x 2 pan. Prepare pasta according to package directions.

Toss the pasta with some of the sauce.

Put a layer of pasta, then put a little of the red sauce, the plop some of the white sauce. Do not mix the sauces. Add some Parmesan Cheese. Repeat layers using all the ingredients.

Cover the pan with foil and bake at 400 for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 minutes more. Remove from oven and let stand about 15 minutes before serving.
